What Should I Know about my New Car Warranty? Maintenance Questions Answered at Capitol Subaru

In the case of a manufacturer defect, your new car warranty covers all costs of parts and labor. This is to give you peace of mind that, should something unexpected go wrong on your vehicle, Subaru has your back. However, your warranty can be rendered void in cases of misuse or neglect. To properly maintain your warranty, just properly maintain your car! If you have regular vehicle maintenance carried out according to manufacturer recommendation, and turn to a Subaru authorized dealer for all warranty services, you'll be protected for the life of your warranty.

What does my New Subaru Warranty Not Cover?
If you misuse or neglect your vehicle, your warranty may not cover you when it's time for warranty service. For example, exceeding the recommended uses for your car - such as attempting to tow a trailer beyond the vehicle's maximum towing capacity - can cause major damage. A vehicle misused in this way won't be covered by the warranty.
If routine maintenance is missed - like oil changes, fluid flushes and brake pad replacement - that can also void the warranty, as missing these important services can cause your vehicle to sustain unnecessary wear and tear.

Your warranty also does not cover traffic accidents. That's where your auto insurance comes in. However, outside of crashes, neglect and misuse, your Subaru covers anything that goes wrong on your vehicle!
What if I Need Warranty Service Far From Home?
All warranty service must be performed at an authorized Subaru dealer. This is to ensure the best possible repair quality, so you get a long-term fix. However, you might someday find yourself a long way from the nearest Subaru dealership and in need of warranty service. Subaru wants you to know, even a long way from home, your warranty protects you.

If you suffer a breakdown more than 75 miles from an authorized Subaru dealership, have the car serviced by the nearest available mechanic. Ask to keep copies of all work orders, receipts, invoices and even the packaging for any parts that were used. You'll need to keep records of what work was performed and what parts were used. Then, when you return home, visit your local authorized Subaru dealership and let us know what happened. We'll inspect the work performed to ensure it lives up to our high standards for quality, and fix it if it's not - still at no cost to you. If you do this within 15 days of the original breakdown, we'll also reimburse you up to $500.00 for the cost of repairs!
