Previously I have driven a 2002 Imprezza WRX , a 2020 Crosstrek Premium, a 2023 Solterra Limited, and I loved each one for different reasons and at different stages of life. The Uncharted Sport is like a portmanteau of features I loved from each one with more features I never knew I wanted. First the obvious one is that it has over 100 more HP and Torque than my WRX. It has serious pick up and passengers notice the sense of gravity during a space launch. Or not that many Gs but you probably want to take it easy with Gramma is riding shotgun. Second like the Solterra, it's quiet like even at maximum lawful speed here in Utah (80 on some interstate) you barely notice the wind noise. Acceleration is quick but smooth, and if you deselect the Regen braking you can coast on level pavement for a long long way. Reengage Regen braking on slopes you will need to ride the brake pedal (which activates both Regen and friction brakes). The one thing I disliked about the Solterra was that for me it was too big. I live in a city, and often have to squeeze into tight parallel spaces, so although the cameras help, those extra 7 inches of length made me long for my Crosstrek often enough, so when the Uncharted was announced I was excited. So like another reviewer, I marched into my local dealership and placed a deposit on one of the two Habanero Orange sports the first day they showed them in Transit. And I May 1st, I picked it up. I didn't even take it for a test drive because I was confident that it would be perfect. And it is. I took it From Salt Lake City to Albuquerque in June with 2 adult passengers and it was comfortable, quiet, and agile over mountains, through canyons, and across the deserts. 2 25 minute charges were necessary but on an 750 mile trip, 2 stops to eat and freshen up are necessary anyway. My main passenger is my 5 year old Shih Tzu. He sports a Subaru branded harness which I have a tether which secures into seatbelt latch I got him one of those memory foam camping mattresses that covers the seat gap, so he had freedom of motion in the bag seat, can poke his head between to seats to tell me he needs to go out, but he won't become a K9 projectile in the event of a unplanned immediate deceleration event. This car is fast and sporty, compact, space age and while not a luxury car, it is quite and comfortably appointed. And the running lights have a subtle shout out to the 6 stars of the badge, which like real stars light up at night.…

Review of 2026 Subaru Uncharted Sport
by Happy in NC | on 6/1/2026 5:07:46 PM
We owned two Subaru’s, a 2016 Outback and a 2021 Forester, when we decided that it was time to replace the older one. In doing so, we really stepped outside of our comfort zones...one, by purchasing an EV, two, by buying a new vehicle in its first model year, and three by purchasing the car before the dealer even had it.
My wife wanted a smaller sub-compact SUV so we first tried the Toyota Corolla Cross, Subaru Crosstrek, and the Kia Niro. None of those cars impressed us. At some point we also realized that we wanted better fuel economy, so decided to focus in on hybrid and plug-in hybrids. After looking into those options, my wife decided that she wanted to drive an electric vehicle, and we test drove the Subaru Solterra, which we both were impressed by. Next, we went to Hyundai to test drive the Ioniq 5, and another day, the Toyota bZ. We both loved the quickness and smooth ride of the electric cars and began leaning in that direction. (As an aside, we really loved the Ioniq 5 and even gave it a second test drive!)
After some research we discovered that Subaru was coming out with two EV vehicles in 2026. We studied the photos and info online and eventually favored the look and size of the Uncharted. A few days later, we went to Subaru, who hadn’t even received any of those new cars yet, and decided to reserve an Uncharted, sight unseen.
So far we love this car. The car is sporty yet has the feel of an SUV. We bought the Habanero Orange color and the sport trim in grey and it looks sweet!! It is exceptionally smooth-riding, handles well, quick, and is very fun to drive. Apparently, it does 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds so it’s quick out of the gate! The 360 surround camera and other advanced features are excellent. Charging is simple, and as it’s really a local runabout, 110 charging is fine for us. We also love the rectangular shape of the steering wheel which allows us to see the speedometer display easily and it is comfortable to hold to on to as well!
There have been only two issues so far, both software-related: the seats were not able to be programmed, and the regenerative braking setting defaults to low after each use. Apparently this was due to defects in a recent software update, so hopefully will be fixed in near future.
In other reviews we’ve seen comments that the rear seat is somewhat cramped, and that there is not a large cargo space. This is a sub-compact SUV so, while not like the Outback or our Forester, it is more than adequate for our needs. We do not agree with some that the steering wheel obstructs the instrument cluster. So far range and charging times are not an issue for us, since we don’t us this car for long road trips. There have also been comments that the regenerative breaking, when set to max, is not true one-pedal driving. Well, it is close, and we like the way it works. I do wish it would retain settings from one drive to another, though.
Apparently we are the first owners of a Subaru Uncharted in the whole United States, and we couldn’t be more pleased!!…
